A moment of change and a news life

“A new life” is a solo journaling game based on “After the accident” by Gulix for the “Following the leads” jam. 

In the words of Gulix in “After the accident”, a new life is “a roleplaying game designed to be played solo by keeping a diary similar to the one kept by the character we are going to play”. 

However, while “After the accident” tells the story of the survivor of a physical accident, in “A new life” the accident is called a “moment of change”. Your character just had a life-changing experience, something that changed everything either in a big spectacular way or in a small but very personal way. The game will take us through the aftermath, exploring this brand new and somewhat strange life. 

The character will cross paths with people from their old life, but the relationships will almost never be the same. You might choose to rebuild and evolve those relationships or abandon them altogether. As a character, you will discover new places, new communities and new people. You will redefine what it is to be you, who you love, and how to live this new life. 

A word of caution though, the story will be whatever you make it. Whether it will be a path of tears or a stroll through a beautiful park depends on your choices. Listen to yourself, to your mood and to what feels right when you play. Take a pause, breathe, sip a hot tea if that’s your thing. I know that when I play this game, things can be pretty intense.

Un moment décisif et une nouvelle vie

Une nouvelle vie est un jeu solo d’écriture de journal basé sur Après l’accident de Gulix pour sa jam « Following the leads ». Comme le dit Gulix dans Après l’accident , Une nouvelle vie est « un jeu de rôle conçu pour être joué en solitaire, en tenant un journal similaire à celui tenu par le personnage que nous allons incarner ».

Cependant, alors qu’ Après l’accident propose de raconter l’histoire d’une survivante après un accident physique, dans Une nouvelle vie nous explorerons la vie d’une personne après un moment décisif qui a changé sa vie. Ce changement peut être très personnel, presque insignifiant d’un point de vue extérieur ou au contraire très spectaculaire. Le jeu nous permettra d’en explorer les conséquences et de décrire cette vie nouvelle et peut-être un peu étrange.

Le personnage croisera des gens appartenant à son ancienne vie, mais leurs relations ne seront plus les mêmes. Vous pourrez choisir de les reconstruire, de les faire évoluer ou de les abandonner. En tant que personnage vous découvrirez de nouveaux endroits, de nouvelles communautés et de nouvelles personnes. Vous pourrez redéfinir ce que c’est que d’être vous, qui vous aimez et ce que ça fait de vivre cette nouvelle vie.

Quelques mots d’avertissement sont pourtant nécessaires, cette histoire sera ce que vous en ferez. Il faudra choisir si vous voulez en faire un chemin de larmes ou de lumière. Écoutez vous, suivez vos envies, votre humeur et ce qui vous semble convenir à la partie. N’hésitez pas à faire une pause, à respirer profondément ou à vous servir une tasse de thé bien chaude si c’est votre truc. Je peux vous dire que quand je joue à ce jeu, les choses peuvent être intenses.
